Obituary for Emory Addison

Emory C. “Poodle” Addison

Emory “Poodle” Addison, 95, of Newton died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Willson Hospice House in Albany.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, July 17 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Travelers Rest Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Malcolm Parker will officiate.

Pallbearers will include his grandsons, Ken Swords, Jeff Swords, Jason Swords, Graylon Brunson, Shaun Brunson and Chris Cox.

Born March 18, 1922 in Mitchell County, he was the son of the late Byron Lucius Addison and Aubrey Kenny Addison. Mr. Addison was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in W.W. II and the Korean War working as an ammunition specialist. He also retired in 2008 from Joseph W. Jones Ecological Research Center in Baker County. Mr. Addison was a farmer and member of Live Oak Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Ella Mae Reynolds Addison.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Frances Crosby (Tommy), Evelyn Swords, Sarah Anne Thompson and Brenda Kay Cox (Henry); grandchildren, Ken Swords, Jeff Swords, Jason Swords, Graylon Brunson, Shaun Brunson, Chris Cox, Renee Thompson and Kayla Glass and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2017 before services at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home.

Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
