Howard Earl Tyus of Camilla went to be with the Lord, God in Heaven, Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at the age of 74.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home with interment in Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. Connell Anderson will officiate.

Mr. Tyus was born October 21, 1942 in Clanton, Alabama to the late Lewis Earl Tyus and Era Mae Wyatt Tyus. He was a sweet, kind, loving, and protective man of his family. He was a retired certified welder and pipefitter. Mr. Tyus was a man of his word and reminded us that “he was of the old school”. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors and was a conservator of the land. He enjoyed working in his yard, planting flowers and trees and keeping it beautiful and feeding the birds daily, enjoying nature and animals. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Tyus Cooper and husband, Carroll Cooper and Margaret Tyus Hurst and husband, Junior Hurst and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hilda and Keaton Weathersby.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rebecca “Becki” Tyus of Camilla; his daughter, Roxanne “Roxi” Tyus Paul and her husband, David, of Albany; granddaughters, Ilissa Taylor and Emma Paul Mims and husband, Jason; great grandchild, Kallan Mims; a sister, Betty Tyus Gaines and husband, Everett; sisters-in-law, Mary Brumbaugh (Don), Betty Acosta (Joe), Donna Anderson (Connell), Peggy Phelps (Mickey); brothers-in-law, Andy Weathersby, Billy Weathersby, and Jimmy Weathersby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 – 11 a.m., before services, Saturday, at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.

He fought the good fight and is now flying with the angels in Heaven which gives peace and comfort for the family as we have his spirit in our hearts and memories.

So go and run free with the angels,
Dance around the golden clouds
For the Lord has chosen you to be with him
And we should feel nothing but proud
Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a lifetime will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have
Your face will always be hidden
Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
Shall never, ever depart
So go and run free with the angels
As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take good care of you for us.
