Obituary for Jane Elizabeth Pafford Shirah

Jane Elizabeth Pafford Shirah, 73, of Hopeful died Sunday, October 15, 2017.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 19 at Hopeful Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Joel Smith, Rev. Clay Cloud and Rev. Allen Johnson will officiate.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Shirah, Paul Shirah, Beau Shirah, Mike DeVane, Jim DeVane, John Thompson, Cleve Shirah, and Rusty McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers will be Ben Shirah and Evan Shirah.

Born June 5, 1944 in Jennings, Florida, Jane was the daughter of the late Roy Pafford and Ethel Yates Pafford. She graduated from Mercer University and spent over thirty years supporting the community as a nurse. Jane was a member of Hopeful Baptist Church and was known in her community as “Mama Jane” to all. Her passion in life was being Nana to her grandchildren, serving her community and loving her family.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Shirah of Hopeful; two sons, Jay Shirah (Kristen) of Athens and Paul Shirah (Alicia) of Hopeful; one daughter, Dona Lyn Shirah Goodpasture (Lem) of Albany; two sisters, Dot DeVane (Jim) of Jennings, FL and Peg Powell of Gainesville, FL; one brother, Bud Pafford (Pat) of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Beau Shirah, Jordan Shirah, Katy Goodpasture, Ben Shirah, Evan Shirah, and Addy Grace Goodpasture.

Visitation will be from 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 18 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – South GA Region, 225 East Second Street, Tifton, GA 31794.

Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
