Obituary for Virginia Gaulden Collins

Virginia Gaulden Collins, 97, of Camilla died Monday, October 30, 2017 at her daughter’s residence in Albany.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 3 at Oakview Cemetery. Rev. Mark Hughes will officiate.

Born and raised in Delwood Community, Georgia, she was a child of the depression. Mrs. Collins was the daughter of the late Ben Hill Gaulden and Bertha Everett Gaulden. She graduated from Camilla High School and attended business school. She was married to the late Lewis B. Collins.
Employed for years by the Mitchell EMC, Keadle Brothers Lumber Company, Camilla Cotton Oil, the Southwest Georgia Regional Planning Commission and the Georgia Forestry Commission, she was a devoted and dedicated employee.

For her entire adult life, her passion was her music, having played the piano and organ for the First Baptist Church, the First Presbyterian Church, the Episcopal Church and Trinity Baptist in her later years. She had the pleasure of playing for many weddings, graduation services and funerals throughout the County.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarabeth Morrell of Camilla and Sue Ellen Collins of Albany; one son, Robert L. Collins (Carol) of Marietta; six grandchildren, Todd Morrell, Dianne Bush, Dana Taulli, Lucia Coghlan, Ross Bush (Rebecca); four great-grandchildren, Alex Coghlan, Sam Taulli, Max Taulli, and Oscar Emery.

The family will receive friends following the services, Friday, at the graveside.
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
