Obituary for Nancy Kemp Turner

Nancy Kemp Turner (Mema to her beloved grandchildren) died peacefully at New Hanover Regional Medical Center on May 10th 2018 in Wilmington, NC at the age of 87 surrounded by family.

Nancy is survived by her children, Bridget Thomas and Paula True of Wilmington, NC; Uel Kemp, of Canton, GA; Scott Turner of Cumming, GA; and Ross Turner of Columbus, GA; a brother, Al Edmonson of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Nancy Ruffin and Alison Thomas of Wilmington, NC; Nicholas True of Chapel Hill, NC; Natalie True of Richlands, NC; Jon and David Kemp of Atlanta, GA; Garret and Sean Turner of Cumming, GA; 3 great grandchildren, MacRae Ruffin of Wilmington, NC and Molly and Lucy True of Chapel Hill, NC. She is preceded in death by her husband’s Uel Augustus Kemp, Jr and Errett Emory Turner, Jr.
Nancy was born on August 31, 1930 in Butler, GA to Robert Mitchell and Lula Mae Hinton Edmonson. She graduated from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing. She was a Public Health Nurse for the state of Georgia for thirty years.

Nancy was an African Violet enthusiast, who even won awards for her innovations (she created her own violet named Nancy’s Fantasy) and was a master cook in the kitchen. She loved to dance anytime there was music around. Nancy’s biggest pride of all were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by so many that loved her.
A memorial service is scheduled for May 14th, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, NC at 3 in the afternoon, with a reception to follow. Associate Pastor for Christian Formation and Congregational Care, Richard Aylor will officiate the ceremony.

A visitation is scheduled for May 16, 2018 at Hopeful Baptist Church in Hopeful, GA at 10:00 a.m. in the morning, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. with interment in Hopeful Baptist Church Cemetery.. Pastor Clay Cloud will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nancy’s life.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to First Presbyterian of Wilmington, NC Music Fund, Hopeful Baptist Cemetery Fund and the Arthritis Foundation.
Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home of Camilla, GA is in charge of arrangements.
